The Grand Traverse Area Rock and Mineral Club, Traverse City, Michigan (GTARMC) is open to rockhounds of all ages. Promoting our hobby is our main goal. Here is our mission statement.

All regular meetings and most classes are held at the History Center of Traverse City (the old library) at 322 Sixth Street in Traverse City, Michigan. To find the History Center, turn west on Sixth St. from Union St., which is 4 blocks south of Grandview Parkway (US-31, M-72, M-37). The History Center is the first building on the right, about 2 blocks from Union St. The meetings (except August and December) are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m., in the large room just to the right after you enter the sliding front door in the newer part of the building. Please visit our next meeting, you do not have to be a member of the GTARMC to attend and rockhounds of all ages are welcome, including young rockpups.

Membership in the Grand Traverse Area Rock and Mineral Club offers many benefits including:

  • Monthly newsletter
  • Classes and field trips for members only
  • Use of club workshop after cabochon class is completed
  • Access to Annual Picnic and Holiday Dinner
  • Chances to share your love of the hobby with others

  • In addition, you can join this special support group for those with the contagious affliction of "rocks in the head". When friends and family look at you funny when you are talking about spending hours or whole vacations collecting rocks, minerals and fossils, you can find solace in knowing that you can talk to any of the GTARMC members who know that you are really quite "normal".

Membership dues are $5.00 for Junior members ages 8 through 17 years, $15.00 for an adult, $20.00 for a couple with an additonal $3.00 per child in the family.
