NEWS - Our May 17 meeting will be at the VFW at 6:30 p.m...

    The May 17 meeting will feature "Demo Night". A program where various club members will be stationed around the room sharing a teaching moment, about a skill related to rock and mineral collecting or lapidary arts.
  • We will hold our June 21 meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Cherryland VFW at 3400 Veterans Drive in TC. Programs will be announced soon.
  • Please check your newsletter for more information on the new "Pebble Pups" program for young rockhounds. This program is led by Steven Veatch and other volunteers. Check out the Pebble Pups own website. To check out this site CLICK HERE!!

  • The club has a lease with the City of Traverse City to use the equipment room in the Carnegie building (Crooked Tree Arts Center)on Sixth Street. Open work room sessions are available. You must be a member, have taken the cabochon class, and have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to use the work room. You must register in advance due to the limited number of machines. E-mail to sign up for a work session. Remember, the workroom is not to be used for commercial puposes.
  • The 2023 Keweenaw Minerals Days will be held August 4 - 12, 2023.... You can visit the website by clicking on the underlined event name above to find out the details. It appears that all the organized events will be on Friday, August 4 at the Seasman Mineral Museum. The remainder of the time will offer 15% off purchases at the Museum and Keweenaw Gem and Gift and free admission to the museum for registered participants. No collecting events will be offered through Michigan Tech in 2023. The event dates were changed this year to be the same as those offered by the Copper Country Rock and Mineral Club that is offering collecting events.
  • The 2023 Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club show will be held on August 5. There are two collecting events this year. Friday, August 4 is a collecting trip to the Republic Iron Mine. Sunday, August 6 will be a trip to the Lindburg Quarry to collect Kona Dolomite. For details, check their website from our Sponsors/Links page.
  • The Copper Country Rock and Mineral Club is holding their collecting and social events, August 6 through 11, 2022. Collecting trips to the Cliff, Seneca, Central, and Wolverine are scheduled from August 7 through 11. Follow the link to their web site from our Sponsors/Links page. The CCRMC Rock and Mineral show is August 11, 12, and 13.
  • Various instructors will be teaching beginning cabochon classes, silversmithing, and wire wrapping classes. E-mail to sign up for a class. Remember, you must be a member of the club to participate in these or other classes. All instructors are vaccinated against COVID 19 and participants will be required to have been fully vaccinated as well. There are class size limits.

  • The 2023 Petoskey Stone Festival will be held at Barnes Park in Eastport on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Check the festival website by clicking on the event title for more information or check their Facebook page.
