NEWS - The location for the Tuesday, January 21 meeting is the TADL at 6:45 p.m.

  • Our January meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 21 at 6:45 p.m., and will feature Tricia Stevens sharing photos from the September GTARMC Show for the short program. The main program will be Jenny Burcroff presenting the program "Trilobites".
  • The February meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 28 at 6:45 p.m. The short program will be presented by Ken Schug on his 2019 Rock Collecting Trip Out West. The long program will be offered by Lauren Vaughn and is titled, "Glorious Garnets Galore".
  • The club has a lease with the City of Traverse City to use the equipment room in the Carnegie building (Crooked Tree Arts Center / former History Center)on Sixth Street. Open work room sessions are being held on Monday evenings. (Closed in July.) You must be a member and have taken the cabochon class to use the work room and you must register in advance due to the limited number of machines. E-mail to sign up for a work session.
  • The 2019 Keweenaw Mineral Days, formerly known as The Copper Country Mineral Retreat were held July 16 - 20, 2019.... You can visit the website by clicking on the underlined event name above to find out the details. Collecting events to the Seneca, Wolverine #2 and Central Mines were featured.
  • Additional opportunities for collecting in the U.P. were offered by the Ishpeming and Copper Country Rock and Mineral Clubs between August 2 and 9. Last year the Ishpeming events were held on August 2 through 6. Follow the link to their web sites from our Sponsors/Links page. The Annual Gem and Mineral show in Ishpeming was on Saturday, August 3. Collecting events were Friday, August 2 to the Republic Iron Mine; Sunday, August 4 at the Lindberg Quarry for Kona Dolomite; and Monday, August 5 to the Michigan Gold Mine.   • The Copper Country Rock and Mineral Club's events were held between August 6 and 9. Their details were posted on March 15 and registration began the same day. Follow the link to their website from our Sponsors/Links page. The CCRMC Rock and Mineral show was held on August 9, 10, and 11. Stay tuned for 2020 information.
  • Various instructors will be teaching beginning cabochon classes in 2020 and Ken Schug and Janet Ryan will be teaching beginning silversmithing classes. E-mail to sign up for a class. Remember, you must be a member of the club to participate in these or other classes.
