NEWS - The location for the TUESDAY, November 21 meeting is the TADL at 6:45 p.m.

  • The annual club Christmas Dinner will be held on Sunday, December 10 at Sleder's Tavern on Randolph Street in Traverse City. Social time starts at 5 pm and the meal at 6 pm. You must be signed up and paid by the November 21 meeting. There is a limit of 65 people. The cost is $18.00 per adult, $10.00 for youth.
  • OUR NEXT REGULAR MEETING WILL BE HELD AT 6:45 P.M. ON TUESDAY, November 21, 2017 in the McGuire Room at the Traverse Area District Library at 610 Woodmere Avenue in Traverse City. The short program will be announced at the meeting. The main program will feature Copper Replacement Agates and be presented by Pierre LaFoille.
  • THE JANUARY REGULAR MEETING WILL BE HELD AT 6:45 P.M. ON TUESDAY, January 16, 2018 in the McGuire Room at the Traverse Area District Library at 610 Woodmere Avenue in Traverse City.
  • The club has a lease with the City of Traverse City to use the equipment room in the Carnegie building (Crooked Tree Art Center / former History Center). Open work room sessions are being held on Monday evenings. (Closed in July.) You must be a member and have taken the cabochon class to use the work room and you must register in advance due to the limited number of machines. See Cindy Wicksall to sign up.
  • The 2017 Keweenaw Mineral Days, formerly known as The Copper Country Mineral Retreat was held July 18 - 22, 2017.... The schedule for 2018 will be posted during the late winter. You can visit the website by clicking on the underlined event name above.
  • Additional opportunities for collecting in the U.P. were offered by the Ishpeming and Copper Country Rock and Mineral Clubs between August 4 and 11. The Ishpeming events were on August 4,6 and 7. The Copper Country events were on August 8, 9, 10, and 11. Registration began March 6 for the Copper Country Club events. Follow the link to their web sites from our Sponsors/Links page. Rock and Mineral shows were also being held in both communities. The Ishpeming show was on August 5 and the show in Houghton was August 11, 12, and 13. Check their websites for more information.
  • Various instructors will be teaching beginning cabochon classes in 2017 and Ken Schug will be teaching beginning silversmithing classes. Check with Club Secretary, Cindy Wicksall about getting on the list for a class in 2017. Remember, you must be a member of the club to participate in these or other classes.

  • The 2017 Petoskey Stone Festival was held at Barnes Park in Eastport on Saturday, May 27, 2017. Check the festival website by clicking on the event title for more information.
