NEWS - The location for the Tuesday, March 17 meeting is the TADL at 6:45 p.m.

  • Our March meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 17 at 6:45 p.m., and will feature John Matz presenting the short program. The main program will be Eric Hallman presenting "Texas Caving".
  • The April meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 21 at 6:45 p.m. The short program will be presented by Deb Bull on Polyhedroids. The long program will be offered by Mike Laslo on Agates.
  • The club has a lease with the City of Traverse City to use the equipment room in the Carnegie building (Crooked Tree Arts Center / former History Center)on Sixth Street. Open work room sessions are being held on Monday evenings. (Closed in July.) You must be a member and have taken the cabochon class to use the work room and you must register in advance due to the limited number of machines. E-mail to sign up for a work session.
  • The 2020 Keweenaw Mineral Days, formerly known as The Copper Country Mineral Retreat will be held July 14 - 18, 2020.... You can visit the website by clicking on the underlined event name above to find out the details. Collecting events to the Seneca, Wolverine #2 and Central Mines will be featured.
  • Additional opportunities for collecting in the U.P. will be offered in 2020 by the Ishpeming and Copper Country Rock and Mineral Clubs between July 31 and August 9. This year the Ishpeming events will be held on July 31 through August 3. Follow the link to their web sites from our Sponsors/Links page. The Annual Gem and Mineral show in Ishpeming is on Saturday, August 1. Collecting events are Friday, July 31 to the Republic Iron Mine; Sunday, August 2 at the Lindberg Quarry for Kona Dolomite; and Monday, August 3 to the Michigan Gold Mine. The Michigan Gold Mine is the only trip that needs pre-registration which begins May 16. For more information, check their website.
  • The Copper Country Rock and Mineral Club's events will be held between August 3 and 9. The dates are posted and registration is to begin in early March, although has not started as of March 9th. Follow the link to their website from our Sponsors/Links page. The CCRMC Rock and Mineral show is held on August 7, 8, and 9. The events fill quickly so stay tuned to their site for 2020 registration information.
  • Various instructors will be teaching beginning cabochon classes in 2020 and Ken Schug and Janet Ryan will be teaching beginning silversmithing classes. E-mail to sign up for a class. Remember, you must be a member of the club to participate in these or other classes.

  • The 2020 Petoskey Stone Festival will be held at Barnes Park in Eastport on Saturday, May 23, 2030. Check the festival website by clicking on the event title for more information on the show and vendor opportunities.
