NEWS - The location for the Tuesday, January 15 meeting is the TADL at 6:45 p.m.

  • Our January meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 15 at 6:45 p.m., and will feature Jenny Sharp speaking on "Rock Hunting with Grandkids" during the 5 minute program. The long program will be "Crater of Diamonds State Park" by Lisa and Gary Knudsen.
  • There will be no regular meeting in December but on Sunday, December 9 our annual Christmas Dinner will be held. Reservation are now closed. This year is at "The Cottage" restaurant near the corner of Munson Avenue and East 8th Street in Traverse City. The social hour will begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:00 p.m.
  • The club has renewed the lease with the City of Traverse City to use the equipment room in the Carnegie building (Crooked Tree Arts Center / former History Center). Open work room sessions are being held on Monday evenings. (Closed in July.) You must be a member and have taken the cabochon class to use the work room and you must register in advance due to the limited number of machines. See Cindy Wicksall to sign up or put your name on the list at the information table.
  • The 2018 Keweenaw Mineral Days, formerly known as The Copper Country Mineral Retreat was held July 17 - 21, 2018.... You can visit the website by clicking on the underlined event name above to find out the details.
  • Additional opportunities for collecting in the U.P. were offered by the Ishpeming and Copper Country Rock and Mineral Clubs between August 3 and 10. The Ishpeming events were held on August 3,5 and 6. The Copper Country events were on August 5 through 10. Follow the link to their web sites from our Sponsors/Links page. Rock and Mineral shows were also held in both communities. The Ishpeming show was on August 4 and the show in Houghton was August 10, 11, and 12. Check their websites for more information.
  • Various instructors will be teaching beginning cabochon classes in 2018 and Ken Schug will be teaching beginning silversmithing classes. Check with, Cindy Wicksall or the information table about getting on the list for a class in 2018. Remember, you must be a member of the club to participate in these or other classes.

  • The 2018 Petoskey Stone Festival was held at Barnes Park in Eastport on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Check the festival website by clicking on the event title for more information.
